Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center, Jerusalem/Israel

The Abdominal Imaging Section at Hadassah Hebrew University Hospital is a modern multidisciplinary diagnostic facility with dedicated centres located at the two Hadassah Hospital campuses in Jerusalem. We specialise in all aspects of modern abdominal imaging, including imaging and intervention. We serve as a major referral center for diagnostic work-up for community based centers in Israel. The Hadassah Hebrew University Hospital is the leading academic and teaching hospital in the country associated with the faculty of medicine at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Our hospitals are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to enable the best possible patient care. We have 5 MRI machines (two 1.5T and three 3T), four CT scanners (64, 256 and dual energy scanners). Our US centers include state-of-the-art ultrasound machines, including shear-wave elastography and contrast capabilities. The full spectrum of biopsies and interventions are performed by our highly trained staff, including US and CT procedures including various ablative techniques (RF, IRE, Microwave).

Annually we perform over 40.000 abdominal CT studies, 2.500 abdominal and pelvic MRI, 8.000 US studies and about 1.500 interventional image-guided interventions. The Abdominal Section includes 7 dedicated radiologists. All are subspecialised with training in leading centers in the world. Our dedicated staff works in close collaboration with surgeons, oncologists, gastroenterologists, hepatologists and urologists; weekly multidisciplinary conferences are conducted to discuss challenging cases.

Programme structure

Performing an Abdominal Imaging fellowship at Hadassah will expose the trainee to all the above mentioned modalities and will teach them how to properly combine them for optimal patient care. Daily work will include supervised interpretation of CT  and MRI studies, performing ultrasound and taking part in active treatment of our patients. The fellow will participate in interventional procedures under all the modalities mentioned above and will participate in multidisciplinary consultations and conferences.

We build a personalised programme for the trainee with emphasis on what will help him/her most to improve care at his/her home facility.

Research oppotunities will be explored with the trainee as well, with the goal of at least one published paper by the end of the fellowship.

A detailed individual programme is determined at the beginning of the fellowship in consultation with the fellow.
